For the past five years, the Share the Ware thrift store in Missouri Valley has been a place where customers “shop with purpose”. It has served as a training platform for program clients of Crossroads of Western Iowa. Individuals with disabilities gain work experience in a structured environment, along with staff support, and while earning a paycheck.
Unfortunately, this location no longer meets the Federal and State Guidelines of an integrated work setting for people with disabilities. Therefore, as of August 31, 2018, Share the Ware will permanently close its doors.
Staff are currently working with program clients to transition them from Share the Ware into other programming opportunities. In Harrison county alone, Crossroads provides programs and services to more than 90 adults with disabilities while employing more than 80 people.
We'd like to thank the residents of Missouri Valley along with the surrounding communities for your support and patronage. It was a pleasure greeting you and seeing your smiling faces on a daily basis.
