Crossroad's own Velvet Jeratowski, the Sioux City Market Director, recently graduated from the Leadership Siouxland program.
The nine-month program identifies and trains outstanding individuals with diverse views and experiences to assume leadership roles in economic, cultural, philanthropic, and civic development.
"We can all find ourselves feeling a bit of nervousness when asked to step out of our comfort zone," Velvet said. "Leadership Siouxland afforded me the chance to not only try new things, but to meet others who are providing a major impact on our community by their direction and commitment to various causes."
As part of the course, Velvet worked with a group to create a comfort room for Lila Mae's House, a Sioux City organization that provides a safe haven for women victimized through sex trafficking.
"Being able to work with such a great group— the Dynamic Doers—to provide and implement a ‘safe space’ for healing was such a wonderful experience," Velvet said.
We want to congratulate Velvet on her accomplishment and for doing good in her community!
