IT'S THE MISSION THAT MOVES US
A Birthday Gift
A birthday party during this pandemic may not be possible, but Meaghan Shea-Evans, a Team Coordinator in Missouri Valley, used her birthday for good.
“A good quote in our business,” she said, “is ‘Be better today than you were yesterday. Be better tomorrow than you were today.’”
Meaghan took that idea to heart, holding a Facebook fundraiser for her birthday and raising $500 for Crossroads of Western Iowa.
“Anyone in the organization can be a leader,” she said. “Leadership is not defined by authority or title, but by the influence you earn by the way you behave. So who are you going to be? Choose to be a leader and help change our culture. The ones we serve deserve the best and it starts with us.”

A Little About Me: The last 13 years I have lived in Logan with my husband Cal and our three children — Koleson, 15, Ryle, 12, and Kaitlyn, 10 — and Cocoa, our chocolate Lab. Cal is in construction and enjoys golf and my children are involved in sports year-round.
Fun fact: I travel once or twice a year with a women’s softball team and have competed in tournaments in Texas, Las Vegas, and Florida.
What I like about working at Crossroads: In 2014, I joined the Crossroads of Western Iowa organization. I was looking forward to working with a treatment team that had been providing services with adults with disabilities. It has developed into much more than that; I found a team and clients that are more “family” than just a career.
I am grateful to be a part of a team that cares about and for our clients in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Each day provides its challenges, but we all share the common goal of responding to those challenges together. I believe that WE CAN DO WHAT I CAN’T. This is demonstrated to me each day.
