Buena Vista University (BVU) and Trivium Life Services have entered a Strategic Partnership that mutually benefits both organizations as they strive to strengthen the communities and people they serve.

This partnership allows for employees of Trivium Life Services, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“We are super excited about this Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University,” says Trivium Life Services Director of Total Reward and Human Resources Services Renee Erbes. “This will give our employees another avenue to further their education with the ease of being able to take classes online while also receiving benefits in the form of a tuition discount.”

Based in Council Bluffs, Trivium Life Services is focused on creating hope, empowering lives, and inspiring communities through its commitment to behavioral health and long-term support services. The nonprofit organization, which was incorporated in Monona as Monona Services, Inc. in 1975 and initially served eight individuals with disabilities, has grown to employ about 450 individuals who serve about 8,000 clients per year in five states—Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Besides Trivium Life Service’s headquarters in Council Bluffs, the organization also has a presence in Atlantic, Cherokee, Missouri Valley, Onawa, and Sioux City in Iowa and Omaha in Nebraska.

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Council Bluffs and Sioux City, home to Iowa Western and Western Iowa Tech Community Colleges, campuses that have collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through Iowa Western or WITCC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Council Bluffs and Sioux City through BVU’s offices on the Iowa Western and WITCC campuses.

“Buena Vista University is eager to partner with Trivium Life Services through our Strategic Partnerships initiative,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “An affordable education is central to building stronger individuals and communities, so we look forward to the opportunities our collaboration with Trivium Life Services and the many positive impacts it will have in Iowa and beyond.”
